FCS Newsletter - Go to Harvard for Free
FCS Newsletter: Aug. 26, 2009
Next Drawing: September 1, 2009

Hello FCS Subscriber . Do you live in Boston? Then get into Boston Latin School and graduate at or near the top of your class. This school has four scholarships to Harvard and they are so substantial that when combined with Pell grants, you might well be able to attend Harvard free.

A growing number of high schools have been given money by their alumni to provide scholarships to deserving graduates. Just about any Boston student who meets the academic requirements and scores well enough on testing can attend the Boston Latin School. Similar scholarship endowments have been given to other top high schools throughout America.

But getting a huge scholarship from the best high school in your city to attend the university of your choice will usually only get you part of the money you need to go to college free. FreeCollegeScholarships wants to help you pay for college too. We're offering a $10k scholarship drawing on Sept. 1st - all you have to do is register for the drawing. Click Here to Register

If you don’t live in Boston and your parents don’t plan to move anywhere near there before you graduate, how do you find a high school with massive scholarships? And if you can find a high school close to home that has been endowed with great scholarships, how do you get into that school and how do you get one of the scholarships?

There is usually only one high school in a major city that has huge scholarship endowments. Talk with the Dean of the College of Education at the biggest university in your city. Ask for the name of the best high school in your city. Also ask for the name of the person at the high school who is in charge of the scholarship awards committee. Then call the secretary to that person and make an appointment to talk with the scholarship awards committee chair. Do this yourself. Don’t ask your parents to call or to go with you. The scholarship committee chair will respect you much more if you show commitment by doing it yourself. Ideally do this either before you start high school or while you are in your first or second year of high school. Simply ask what you need to do to get the scholarship. Then do what it takes and capture the scholarship.

"I have been really hard on myself about getting money for college. My mom kept telling me don't be disappointed if you don't get a job this summer. We will find a way to make it work.I knew I had to keep some hope in me and faith. So I kept putting in for scholarships hoping and praying I would some amazing news saying I had won and money would be sent to me so I could pay for my college.
As the spring semester started to come to an end at Hasting College doubts and fears filled my mind. I didn't know how I was going to pay for my next year of college which would be my sophomore year. I was thinking I would have to drop out of school and start looking for a part time or full time job then maybe start going to college all over again. Then I got a call from FreeCollegeScholarships saying I was a winner..."
