Hello FCS Subscriber! The holidays are here and people are busy with Finals, shopping and maybe even a trip to get together with friends and family. Now's a great time to think about a New Years Resolution! The website usa.gov reports that one of the top resolutions is "Get a Better Education".
FCS Newsletter wants to help you with that resolution! Get a head start on New Year by making sure you're entered in the 10k scholarship drawing on December 15. Click Here to Register
If your resolution is to get a better education, you'll need to start the process of finding the right school. In recent newsletters we've talked about the benefits of online and campus schools. In this newsletter we'll discuss some strategies to assist you in finding a specific school that fits your needs.
Online Schools
College Databases and degree portals can be very helpful in narrowing down potential schools that fit your needs. Before you check these databases, give some thought into the area you would like to go into, your current level of education, and your pre-financial aid budget.
These school and degree databases will provide a list of online programs, general information and tips on how to apply:
GetYourDegree - provides a comprehensive database of online and campus schools as well as all levels of degree programs - from certification and associate degrees to post-grad certificates. Visit the site or call 866-581-2499.
Monster Learning - In addition to a job website, Monster provides an education website that can connect you with a course advisor from a top online school.
FreeCollegeInfo - Like their name says, this site provides complimentary information for students looking to continue their education or jumpstart their career.

Campus Schools
If the idea of going to a school campus appeals to you, start by considering your budget and your ability to move to another town. If you have a limited budget and can not easily leave home, look at schools in your area. Do not rule out junior and community colleges - these can be the best way to get into a top-notch school after two years.
Also consider your academic performance. If you excelled in school and an extra-curricular activity, you might have a good shot at going to any school you're willing to move to.
Here are some more resources to help you find the best campus school:
US Department of Education - This government site has information on degrees from 7,000 online and campus schools, as well as a back to school checklist and financial aid information.
CollegeBoard - Provides a College Matchmaker that factors location, majors and cost to find the right school. This site provides information for students, parents and professionals.
Education Portal - This site provides information on HS diploma programs, associate, bachelor and master degrees as well as career path tools and degree program research.
That's all for this week. Do not forget to register for the December 15 FCS scholarship drawing, and stay tuned for next week's newsletter!
Good Luck!
