Hello FCS Subscriber Have you received your state’s grant and scholarship money yet? Wherever you live or go to college, you will find that your state has scholarships and grants. Since relatively few students apply, in most states some of the state scholarship money goes back to the state each year.
But you don’t have to meet state or any other criteria to get a scholarship from FreeCollegeScholarships. We want to help you pay for college. We’re offering a $10k scholarship drawing on June 30th - all you have to do is register for the drawing. Click Here to Register
This week we’re going to find out how to get tuition and room and board scholarships from your state through grants and/or scholarships. You might be surprised at how many scholarships are available and how easy they are to get!
STATE MONEY
Start by doing a web search on Google or Yahoo! for the tem Grants followed by the name of your state; ex: Florida Grants. After reviewing these, click on Scholarships followed by your state’s name. Remember, grants usually have fewer restrictions and do not need to be paid back while scholarships often have restrictions and sometimes at least a part of them must be paid back.
Let’s see what we get when we enter a state followed by the word grants. For example, when entering Florida Grants under Google search we find over 195,000 links. There are many funding opportunities. On the first page is a reference to the Florida Bright Futures Program. In the 2007-2008 academic year this program paid out $379,874,911 for 159,170 students. And this is only one of a number of state-funded grants and scholarships.
Yes, it takes time to go through all the scholarships and grants, but look at how much just one state program provides. If you get a Pell grant (see our article in the March newsletter) and a Florida Bright Futures program grant, you should be able to go through college quite comfortably. |
