When people think of fast food and BK, they usually don't think about creative ways to pay for college. But in addition to a salary from a part-time or full-time job, many fast food restaurants offer scholarships as well. Today we will profile how to get one of the many fast food scholarships - Burger King.

Between its two programs, the Burger King Scholars Program and the Burger King Employee Scholars Program, this restaurant chain is considered one of the top companies in America to provide scholarships. Not only are its scholarship programs two of the best managed in the country, they constitute a scholarship model that other corporate giants have copied.

Burger King has awarded more than 11,000 scholarships in its Burger King Scholars Program since 2000. That amounts to over $320,000 in scholarships given to graduating high school seniors. In addition to being in your last year of high school when you apply, to get one of these scholarships you must work part-time and excel academically. To find out more and to apply, go to Burger King Scholarship Programs. While getting a Burger King Scholars Programs scholarship requires you to work at least part-time, you don’t have to be working for Burger King - it can be any part-time job.

But if you do work for Burger King you may be eligible for one of their scholarships reserved for employees through the Employee Scholars Program. Each year Burger King provides up to 158 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to employees of Burger King restaurants that support the Burger King Employee Scholars Program. Burger King does not require its franchisees to participate in the Program, but a large number of the restaurants do so. Find out by going to your local Burger King restaurant and asking the manager if they participate in the Burger King Employee Scholars Program. If so, ask what your chances would be if you work with the restaurant on a part-time basis. Of course, they may not have a current opening. But if their turnover is like that at most fast-food restaurants, a part-time work opportunity with them should open up in a few weeks. Find out more about the Burger King Employee Scholars Program.

That's all for this week. Do not forget to register for the July 15th FCS scholarship drawing, and stay tuned for next week's newsletter!

Good Luck!

"I have been really hard on myself about getting money for college. My mom kept telling me don't be disappointed if you don't get a job this summer. We will find a way to make it work.I knew I had to keep some hope in me and faith. So I kept putting in for scholarships hoping and praying I would some amazing news saying I had won and money would be sent to me so I could pay for my college.
As the spring semester started to come to an end at Hasting College doubts and fears filled my mind. I didn't know how I was going to pay for my next year of college which would be my sophomore year. I was thinking I would have to drop out of school and start looking for a part time or full time job then maybe start going to college all over again. Then I got a call from FreeCollegeScholarships saying I was a winner..."
